Fruška Gora National Park
Fruška gora is an island mountain in Serbia, within which there is a national park. The largest part of Fruška Gora is located in the northern part of Serbia, in Srem, part of the autonomous province of Vojvodina. Fruška gora is about 78 km long and 12 to 15 km wide and covers an area of 255 km². Part of Fruška Gora was declared a national park in 1960 and thus became the first national park in Serbia. The highest peak is Crveni Čot (539 m). The valleys and slopes of Fruška Gora are covered with meadows, pastures and grain fields, on the slopes there are orchards and vineyards with famous wine cellars, and parts higher than 300 m are covered with dense deciduous forest. On Fruška Gora is the largest concentration of linden forest in Europe. About 700 types of medicinal plants grow on this mountain. Some of the numerous animal species are: roe deer, deer, mouflon, weasel, wild boar, marten, wild cat, jackal, rabbit, etc.
